WHAT IS NEORALIT SR?

NEORALIT SR consists potassium citrate, which is necessary for maintaining the acid-alkaline balance in the body, as well as for the correct functioning of vital organs such as the heart and kidneys.

Each tablet of NEORALIT SR contains 195 mg of potassium in the form of 540 mg potassium citrate equivalent to 5 mЕq of potassium.

Neoralit SR is a dietary supplement.

HOW DOES NEORALIT SR WORK?

NEORALIT SR supplies the body with citrate ions in the form of extended-release tablets which ensure the gradual release of the active substances into the body, maintaining of relatively constant levels of the active substances, better product tolerability, and a reduced risk of gastric irritation.

The citrate ions contained in NEORALIT SR are metabolised in the kidneys to bicarbonates. This helps maintain the acid-alkaline balance in urine within a normal physiological range.

WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE NEORALIT SR?

NEORALIT SR is not recommended in the case of:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the tablet ingredients. 
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Heart failure
  • Kidney failure
  • Urogenital infection.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING NEORALIТ SR?

Inform your doctor in the following cases:

If you have any of the following conditions:

  • Untreated diabetes
  • Addison’s disease
  • Serious soft tissue injury, such as severe burns
  • Gastric or duodenal ulcer
  • Severe dehydration
  • Chronic diarrhoea
  • Coronary heart disease or myocardial infarction
  • Peripheral edema
  • High blood pressure
  • Pregnancy, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • Oesophageal, gastric, or intestinal obstruction.

If you are using any of the following medications:
Aspirin, diuretics, products containing potassium, salt substitutes, steroids, anti-hypertensive drugs, quinidine, antacids, methenamine, or ACE inhibitors (Captopril, Enalapril, Benazepril).

This list is not inexhaustive, so inform your doctor about all medicines, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and dietary supplements you are taking. Do not start taking any new product without consulting your doctor.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF NEORALIT SR?

When taken in the recommended dose, potassium citrate is generally well tolerated. It is possible to experience some symptoms, including gastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting, or loose stool, as your body adjusts to the product in the first few days. It is important that you inform your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen and in the event of stomach pain, weakness, muscle pain, accelerated or irregular heart rate, shortness of breath, limb stiffness or cramping, restlessness, an unpleasant taste in the mouth, or dark and shiny stool.

HOW SHOULD NEORALIT SR BE TAKEN?

NEORALIT SR is usually taken three times daily in a dose that depends on individual needs. Unless your doctor has recommended otherwise, take 2 tablets of NEORALIT SR three times daily during meals or half an hour after eating. Swallow the tablets whole, with a glass of water (240 mL).

When using NEORALIT SR, it is recommended thatt you increase your fluid intake (at least 2 litres per day). Do not chew or crush the tablets. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking NEORALIT SR. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you remember too late and it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Never take a double dose to catch up.

While taking NEORALIT SR, you need to regularly monitor your urine acidity (pH) level with the test strips available with the product. Urine acidity (pH) makes it possible to determine the correct dosing of the product. The dose is considered appropriate when the urine acidity level is within its physiological pH range (6.6–6.8). It is recommended that urine acidity (pH) be tested twice daily.

The maximum daily dose of Neoralit SR should not exceed 10800 mg. Do not take more than 20 tablets of Neoralit SR 540 mg per day.

Strictly follow your doctor instructions.

In the case of overdose, immediately seek medical help. Overdose symptoms usually include heavy limbs, muscle weakness, feeling of stiffness, slow or irregular heart rate, and a feeling of loss of consciousness.

STORAGE

Keep NEORALIT SR in its original packaging at a temperature of up to 25°С and out of the reach of children.
Do not store NEORALIT SR in the bathroom. Do not use the product after its expiry date or if the integrity of the packaging is compromised.
