Neolexan and Neolexan SR

WHAT IS 5-HYDROXYTRYPTOPHAN (5-HTP)?

неолексан - мозък

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a substance formed in the human body from tryptophan, an essential amino acid which is supplied to the body through the diet. In the brain, 5-HTP is converted into serotonin, a substance which transmits nerve impulses between brain cells. Serotonin is also known as the ‘happiness hormone’.

The additional intake of 5-HTP in the form of tablets increases serotonin levels in the brain. In addition, 5-HTP indirectly influences dopamine levels which contributes to maintaining the balance between serotonin and dopamine in the brain.

Neolexan is available in three forms: Neolexan 50 mg, Neolexan 100 mg, and Neolexan SR.

Each tablet of Neolexan 50 mg contains 50 mg of 5-HTP, while each tablet of Neolexan 100 mg contains 100 mg of 5-HTP

Neolexan SR contains 150 mg of 5-HPT in the form of extended-release tablets. The extended release of the active substance makes it possible to take the product only twice daily, while maintaining constant levels of the active substance in the body. This ensures the adequate and sustained effect of Neolexan SR throughout each 24-hour period.

Neolexan 50 mg is a dietary supplement.

Neolexan 100 mg is a dietary supplement.

Neolexan SR is a dietary supplement.

WHO ARE NEOLEXAN AND NEOLEXAN SR INTENDED FOR?

Neolexan has a favourable effect on the following:

1. Mood, tonus, and daily activity

The normal levels of serotonin in the brain have a favourable effect on our mood, tonus, and everyday activity. Continuously low serotonin levels result in no interest in everyday activities, lack of energy and inability to concentrate, feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, sadness, uselessness and inadequacy, poor sleep, reduced sexual activity, a significant increase or loss of weight and fatigue, as well as other effects. These conditions can sometimes last for a significant amount of time and deteriorate a person’s quality of life. They often occur as a defensive reaction against stressful factors of our environment, but the reason can sometimes be more serious. Maintaining adequate levels of serotonin in the brain has a very beneficial effect on these conditions.

2. Sleep

After a good night’s sleep, we wake up feeling refreshed and rested. This does not always depend on the duration of sleep, but more so on its quality. While melatonin is the main substance which conditions the onset and duration of sleep, the levels of melatonin in the brain and the brain structures’ sensitivity to melatonin depend on serotonin levels. Serotonin plays an important role in the quality of sleep. The stages of deep sleep, during which time the brain rejuvenates and allows us to wake up feeling rested and refreshed, are prolonged by higher serotonin levels. While melatonin has a well-known effect in older people with lower melatonin levels, insomnia and poor sleep in younger people are much more intensely influenced by the levels of serotonin and of 5-HTP, respectively.

3. Calorie-restricted diets

During calorie-restricted diets, levels of tryptophan in the blood and serotonin in the brain drop significantly. In obese people, these low serotonin levels cause strong cravings for carbohydrates (particularly sweet food) and often result in overeating.

The intake of 5-HTP during and after a calorie-restricted diet increases serotonin levels and, thus, mediates early satiation. This makes it easier to adhere to a diet, prevents overeating, and facilitates weight loss.

4. Unhealthy habits

Upon giving up unhealthy habits, such as alcohol abuse and smoking, levels of 5-HTP in the blood and serotonin also drop. Taking 5-HTP helps maintain serotonin levels, allowing people to easily carry out their daily routines as normal without the unhealthy habit.

5. Memory, logical thinking, attention and perception

Supplementation with 5-HTP supports various cognitive functions of the brain by increasing the levels of serotonin in the frontal lobe of the cortex, which is responsible for thinking, concentration, and memory.

6. Coordination

The balance between serotonin and dopamine in certain parts of the brain is key to coordination and control of fine motor skills (small muscle movements). Adequate intake of 5-HTP enables maintenance of such a balance in the nervous system.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF NEOLEXAN?

Some people may experience mild nausea when they take Neolexan for the first time, which generally does not last long. Nausea can be prevented by administering low initial doses of Neolexan and gradually increasing the dose as needed.

WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE NEOLEXAN?

  • Pregnant women
  • Children under 12 years of age.

HOW TO TAKE NEOLEXAN

The recommended initial dose of NEOLEXAN is 50 mg taken 3 times daily.

In the case of insomnia, a one-time dose of 50 to 300 mg, 30-45 minutes before going to bed is recommended. As some people may experience mild nausea after they take NEOLEXAN for the first time, an initial dose of 50 mg before going to bed is advised. The dose can be gradually increased over time as needed.

If NEOLEXAN is taken whilst on a weight-loss diet, the recommended dose is 50 mg taken 20 minutes before eating.

Take 1 tablet of Neolexan SR twice daily.

Since the effect of Neolexan SR does not usually occur right away, the dose can be adjusted in two week’s time if the initial effect is inadequate. The dose can then be increased by adding 1 tablet to the morning or evening intake.

The maximum daily dose of NEOLEXAN and NEOLEXAN SR is 900 mg.

When you start felling better, do not discontinue the use of the product without consulting your doctor.

The continuous use of NEOLEXAN and NEOLEXAN SR does not result in habituation or addiction.

Do not use the product after its expiry date or if the integrity of the packaging is compromised.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Low serotonin levels cause the following conditions:

Depression

Depression

Depression is a condition which requires specialised medical care and is different to what we know as “lack of a good mood” or “feeling down”. Depression is characterised by no interest in everyday activities, a lack of energy and inability to concentrate, feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, sadness, uselessness and inadequacy, poor sleep, reduced sexual activity, a significant increase or loss of weight, fatigue, and headache, among others. Depression is not a weakness of character and is not the person’s fault, and it can be treated. Depression is caused by a combination of 3 factors: genetic predisposition, environment, and imbalance of chemicals in the brain. Among these chemicals, levels of serotonin, generally regarded as the most important chemical in disorders such as depression, is very low.

Insomnia

Insomnia

After a good night’s sleep, we wake up feeling refreshed and rested. This does not always depend on the duration of sleep, but more so on its quality. Problems with sleep may also be of different origin, but they are eventually associated with an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. While melatonin is the main substance that conditions the onset and duration of sleep, the levels of melatonin in the brain and the brain structures’ sensitivity to melatonin depend on serotonin levels.

Anxiety

As anxiety is also associated with low serotonin levels, increasing levels of serotonin in the brain significantly improves this condition, which eventually disappears.

Migraine and headacheMigraine and headache

It is believed that chronic headaches, particularly migraines, result from low levels of serotonin in the brain, most likely due to increased breakdown. The intake of 5-HTP increases the production of serotonin in the body and, as a result, also reduces pain sensitivity. 5-HTP has been shown to reduce the number, severity, and intensity of chronic headache and migraine episodes by more than 70%.

Obesity

затлъстяване

During calorie-restricted diets, levels of tryptophan in the blood and serotonin in the brain drop significantly. In obese people, these low serotonin levels cause strong cravings for carbohydrates (particularly sweet food) and often result in overeating.

Supplementation with 5-HTP during and after a calorie-restricted diet increases serotonin levels, and therefore mediates early satiation. This makes it easier to adhere to a diet, prevents overeating, and facilitates weight loss.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterised by tiredness, muscle, joint and tendon pain, and poly-modal sensitivity, which is most often associated with low serotonin levels. Supplementation with 5-HTP improves and helps control the symptoms of fibromyalgia, with no side effects.

Unhealthy habits

вредни навици

Upon giving up unhealthy habits, such as alcohol abuse and smoking, levels of 5-HTP in the blood and serotonin also drop. Taking 5-HTP helps maintain serotonin levels, allowing people to easily carry out their daily routines as normal without the unhealthy habit.
